About the Event

Celebrate Imbolc as the sunsets on February 1st in Alderley Edge.

We will meet at the tea rooms at 3:30pm. The session will take 90 mins.

From there we will each set an intention and walk to a magical sacred well, following our ritual and guided meditation there we will walk to stormy point and visualise our intentions for the coming cycles. We will then wander back through the woods with a visit to the stone circle to close our ceremony. We may celebrate and honour the Goddess Brigid with poetry and songs (optional).

What is Imbolc?

The circle of life is our mirror, as the earth begins to stir in her depths, so do we…

Imbolc signifies the first stirrings, we have reached the mid-point between Winter and Spring. Mother Nature is awakening, gently, softly emerging, yet still in hiding, the subtle hints of her ‘becoming’ may be glimpsed if you look closely upon the land, buds appearing, snowdrops rising and gentle whispers of hope in the air. Despite the frost and snow, and our cold noses and toes, something is shifting, seen and unseen. If mother nature can begin to grow against the odds, so can we.

We are gently awakening from hibernation

- this is a ‘peeping’ out from our ‘metaphorical cave’ taking a big long stretch. Imbolc is a time for new beginnings - We can ask ourselves questions at Imbolc around our dreams, our manifestations, our creative spark, what we’d like to birth this year, what we wish to ‘Harvest’ come autumn, how our energies are at present.

This time of year sparks creativity, the cauldron of our soul is filled with untapped hidden potential seeking illumination.

Join me to celebrate the deep stirrings of new life beneath the surface and mark this day as we welcome more of the light into our lives.

Goddess associated with Imbolc: The Celtic Goddess Brigid. She is in her ‘maiden’ phase.

Brigid is the Goddess of poetry, of smithcraft and of healing and also the Goddess of fire, sun and the hearth. It was thought that she provided the ‘fire in the head’ of poetic inspiration. We will be working with her beautiful energy to guide us from the darkness to light, to honour our creativity and breathe life into our hopes and dreams. She brings fertility to the land, and is closely connected with midwives and newborns. We can honour her by visiting sacred wells, which we are lucky to have at Alderley Edge.

This is a free session. If you would like to make an offering you may like to donate to the National Trust or the Derbyshire Caving Club.

This session is open to all, children are welcome. I'm aware the timings may clash with the school run so if you'd like to come but join us later on sign up and I will let you know how to find us.
